Depression in Teenagers: A List of Common Symptoms
Have you ever heard the cliché that most everything goes back to our childhood? Time and time again, this has been verified during many of my adult clients’ hypnosis sessions. Many of people’s limiting beliefs, negative self-talk and self sabotaging patterns originated in their formative years as children. During our early years, we pick up many habits, patterns, and emotions that we will carry into adulthood. It is not uncommon for an adult to come in with the same issue(s) that they learned as a child.
It is crucial that children let go of any negative thoughts or attitudes that might impede their development into happy adults. Fortunately, children are some of the best candidates for hypnotherapy. During each hypnosis session with a child or teenager, the foremost goal is to have him or her walk out feeling more confident than ever – feeling as though he or she can do anything that they set their mind to do. The subconscious mind is taught that the world can be experienced in a positive and constructive way. Hypnotherapy for children is a wonderful way of priming kids & teenagers for success.
With hypnotherapy, your child can:
Do Better in School
Improve Your Child’s Attitude Toward Learning
Because Hypnosis is a state of heightened suggestibility, the mind is able to take in positive suggestions that support doing well in school. The mind of a child can be helped to understand that school is beneficial and fun, making it is easier to focus on homework.
Makes Learning Easier
Hypnosis can help your child focus better in class. It can also literally help your child learn and read faster. At Monterey Peninsula College in California, Dr. Peter Mutke studied the ability of children to learn to read with or without hypnosis. He found that it took non-hypnotized children 22 sessions to learn as much as hypnotized children who were able to learn the same amount in only 5 hypnosis sessions.
It is particularly important that teenagers understand that it benefits them to excel in school. By taking responsibility for doing their homework and getting good grades, it removes the tension of having to constantly be on them to stay on top of school work.
Release Perceived Failures
Many children think that if they were unable to pass a subject, they will never do well in that subject again. One of the most common examples of this is Math. During a hypnosis session, it is possible to re-frame how the child sees the past, so that it doesn’t affect him or her in the future.
This same technique can be applied to help process past negative experiences that could hinder a child’s ability to do well in school.
Move Past Bullying
Bullying can be confidence shattering. It can lead to a child internalizing the negative words of others. It might even find him/herself operating from a place of fear and because of this hold back from social scenarios for the purpose of avoiding rejection and criticism. It can also mean not taking advantage of great opportunities because the child starts to experience a fear of the unknown. Hypnotherapy can help you put an end to the after effects of trauma and move forward with a positive mindset.
Have Better Self-Confidence
Even at a young age, it is important for a child to get a sense of who they are and what they stand for. Not only does this boost self-confidence, but it aids in making the right choices, even when there is peer pressure that might otherwise veer him or her off course.
