3. Be kind and compassionate with yourself. It’s important that you start cutting yourself some slack. Be gentle, kind and forgiving of yourself. Understand that at any one time, you’ve always done the best that you could. Nobody is perfect. Everybody makes mistakes. The most important thing is to learn from those experiences and move on. A mistake doesn’t define who you are. That was just one moment in time that is now in the past. That’s the key thing to remember, the past is over. Now is the present and the only moment you are actually living.

2. Consistently take care of yourself. This includes having a positive self perception with your inner talk being positive so that it supports you in your endeavors. This entails saying shush to the inner critic in us that pops up from time to time. Believing in yourself is one of the first dominoes that needs drop in your path to success. It also means having healthy eating habits, working out and following through with your goals. I don’t think that I can stress enough the importance of you counting on yourself consistently.

1. Have boundaries. Feel comfortable putting your needs first. Have a high level of self-commitment so that it makes no difference who or what comes your way. This kind of healthy behavior makes it easy to honor yourself and your commitments. Respect your wants and needs and take care of yourself first. On planes you are always told to put the oxygen mask on yourself before helping anybody else. This same way of thinking can apply to our day-to-day lives. Be able to count on yourself. You have to love yourself first before you can love and help anyone else. There is power in knowing that you have you.
