People come in for Hypnotherapy sessions for a variety of reasons. Some requests are more common than others. Here are the topic requests that people make when coming in to see me.
Number 5 – Weight Loss
A person’s mental state can often be the culprit in a person having gained weight. Conversely, the right mindset can help someone lose the weight. To do this, I usually have to cover a variety of different topics including; self confidence and self worth, boosting motivation, getting rid of anxiety eating, changing eating patterns, such as eliminating high sugar foods and to eating healthy and exercising regularly. Out of all of the different issues that I work on, this is one of the most complex ones. Reinforcement is a must to ensure that the mind has picked up the new patterns that are going to lead to the desired weight loss goals.
Number Four – Smoking Cessation
Quitting Smoking is no easy task. According to the National Institute of Health, “More than 85 percent of those who try to quit on their own relapse, most within a week.” As every smoker knows, nicotine itself is physically addictive, exerting pharmacological effects directly on the human brain. Furthermore, someone trying to quit smoking not only faces withdrawal, but must also undo associations between old old triggers such as drinking alcohol and coffee and smoking. Hypnotherapy continues to be one of the best ways of quitting smoking given that a person wants to quit.
Number 3- Fears/Phobias
Some people fear for the future because they find themselves functioning from a negative place based on past experiences that have scarred them. Their minds anticipate that something bad is going to happen again and because of it feel unsafe. Others have unfounded fears that feel irrational. These are what we refer to as phobias. Some of the most common phobias that I have seen are the fear of flying and the fear of driving on freeways. In a city such as LA where getting on a freeway is a must, the fear of driving can be crippling and for those who are fearful of flying, it can mean missing great opportunities. Hypnotherapy is a great way of releasing crippling fears that hold a person back.
Number 2- Self-Confidence Issues
Everyone has insecurities. Feeling a bit of self-doubt before giving a presentation, or facing a trickle of nervous energy on a promising first date, are typical responses to stressful situations. This is completely natural. Some people, however, experience shortfalls in self confidence that are much more intense. It can cause a person to feel so unsure of themselves that they are unable to make decisions and do the things that they need to get done to the point where they sabotage themselves. Hypnotherapy can help a person conquering oppressive insecurities. By releasing self doubt, and feeling self assured a person can become unstoppable, able to make strides in every part of their life.
Number 1- Anxiety and Depression
We’re all human. Everybody has either experienced either anxiety or depression sometime in their life. When you consider the alternative of no help, or the slew of addictive pills, anxious and depressed people take every day, it makes sense to use hypnotherapy, as tapping into your subconscious mind is the most form of natural self healing a person can do. Hypnotherapy is a powerful countermeasure in the battle against anxiety and depression.
If you experience any of these four issues, know that you are not alone. People call me all the time, mentioning that they feel like they’re the only ones. They feel broken. There have been times when a person has called me, telling me what they’ve been experiencing, and in my head, I’m thinking “Oh yeah, I’ve experienced that before.” One of the things that I’ve learned from doing this line of work is that we all have much more in common than not regardless of race and religion. The same way others have been able to overcome issues so can you. I see it all the time.
